Would you be terribly surprised if I told you Justice League might be in trouble? No? Me neither. The latest warning sign comes in the form of reshoots—lots and lots of reshoots. Like, multiple rounds of reshoots, enough to be “remade…twice”. Oh boy. I bet Ben Affleck Full Story

I’m trying so hard to keep my expectations tempered because the DC movies are really good at trailers and really bad at everything else, but goddamn these Wonder Woman trailers are SO good. The latest is the “Origins” trailer, introducing us to Diana’s childhood and training on Themyscira. Full Story

I know people who have it bad for Chris Pine. This has not been my experience. That’s not to say I can’t with Chris Pine. But that I’ve never actually felt one way or another about him. Full Story

Wonder Woman doesn’t quit

The second trailer for Wonder Woman has been released, and building off the stellar first trailer it's more great action and Wonder Woman kicking men in the head. I really love how these trailers are looking, despite the Zack Snyder Grimdark Aesthetic, and I LOVE that music theme. We get to see more of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, and Lucy Davis is outrageously charming as Etta Candy, and we also get to see a little bit of Wonder Woman in action with her golden lasso. Full Story

Sometimes you try to get to a movie to review it, but it keeps not working out, and you start to think that maybe you should just let this one go. I had just about reached that point with Hell or High Water when my schedule finally lined up and I made it to a showing of the movie, and man am I glad I stuck with this one, because Hell or High Water is GREAT. Full Story

Chris Pine in Star Trek Beyond

Here’s a fun surprise—a movie that was not really on my radar, Star Trek Beyond, turned out to be the most fun and well-made summer action movie since Captain America: Civil War. In 2009, JJ Abrams rebooted Star Trek, but his heavily Star Wars-influenced take on the material displeased classic Trek fans (they’ve asked not to be called Trekkies anymore). Full Story

Though they showed off two major superhero teams, the biggest hit of the DC Films portion of Warner Brothers’ presentation was the first trailer for Wonder Woman. It is everything I hoped and dreamed. If this movie turns out bad, if it doesn’t live up to this trailer, I will be heartbroken. Full Story

Chris Pine and Casey Affleck in The Finest Hours

The second maritime disaster movie in as many months, following December’s In the Heart of the Sea, The Finest Hours, like that other movie, did not have a terribly impressive opening weekend. That’s consistent with Sea, suggesting that people don’t really have an appetite for boat movies right now, though the people who did see Hours gave it an A- CinemaScore, meaning that pretty much everyone liked it. Full Story
