Han Solo & Friends
The Han Solo spin-off does not yet have a title, so for now I’m calling it Han Solo & Friends. The just-released first cast photo shows off Han (Alden Ehrenreich), Lando (Donald Glover), Chewbacca (now played by Joonas Suotamo), and Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, and Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge in unspecified roles. This is Han’s band of smugglers and space pirates before Obi-Wan Kenobi suckered him in the Mos Eisley Cantina. (I like to imagine that when I write really nerdy things, a vein throbs in Lainey’s forehead.)
They’re not in costume—although I like Ehrenreich’s jacket a lot—and Woody Harrelson doesn’t seem to know where to look, but they’re in the Millennium Falcon and it’s young Han and Lando, and Rogue One didn’t suck, so I’m above-average excited for this. And I have to believe that it’s going to be good because 1) Directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller ditched The Flash for this, and 2) Donald Glover is putting off Atlanta season two, and maybe even the Lion King update in which he’ll voice Simba (although that they can begin production on that without voice actors). But if Donald Glover is willing to put the Han Solo movie over Atlanta season two, it makes me think this will be worth the delay. It’s Glover’s Choice, and he picked Han and Lando. Please be worth it.
PS: I totally called Alden Ehrenreich’s rise as the next big thing never forget.
