Ok.  Here we go again.  It seems that every year the holiday creep happens a little sooner so I thought I would get my holiday creep on now, tell you all how to survive the holidays, and then we can all move on and enjoy ourselves.  I don’t know about you, but for the next 6 weeks in my world there is some sort of holiday gathering happening every single weekend. Full Article

Hi Hayley,  A few months ago I suffered a major ankle injury (torn tendons and a fracture). I am just now starting to walk on it again (with a boot) after using a scooter. I want to get back into a semi-normal workout routine (I usually practice Ashtanga or strong vinyasa flow yoga), but I don't think I can handle a workout that is spent standing for a majority of the time. Full Article

Hi Hayley, Can you recommend some foods I should be eating after I work out in the evenings? The only time I can work out is around 8pm after my daughter is in bed, but I've found some great online programs and do a variety of cardio, weights, and yoga. I'm feeling great but never know what I should eat when I finish around 8:45, especially when I like to go to bed around 10/10:30. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I have a heart rate monitor (chest strap) that I enjoy using; however, I really struggle to get into the more intense levels. I have a low resting heart rate and seem to be burning a lot of calories but my green zone is others’ red zones. We wear them for a specific spin class and while the entire class is at 90%+ I’m in the 70%. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I am writing to you out of desperation. I am a mom of a 2 year old, and a lawyer with a busy, time consuming job. I never feel like I get enough exercise but I was keeping it together through running, a couple of boot camp type classes a week and biking. I hurt my rotator cuff earlier in the year (my 2 year old likes to be carried) but got through that. Full Article

I am 39 weeks pregnant with my first child, and I'm in that planning-for-after-delivery stage of the pregnancy--particularly around meals, sleep, and exercise. I'm a pretty fit person. Up until 34 weeks, I walked at least 5 miles per day. I had to stop because there weren't public restrooms available as I walked through residential areas and a cemetery on my way to/from work. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I am a mother of a young child, early 40’s, career woman. I sit most days and struggle with losing 10 pounds – I lose 5, gain 7, or lose 3, gain 2. My workout schedule is pretty good. I try and do cardio 4 days a week and strength training several times a week as well.  It’s my diet that is my obstacle. Full Article

I went out the other night. Late. And I may have had one, or two, too many glasses of wine which I was reminded of by my headache the next morning as the alarm rang before 5am. I can (sometimes) function with little sleep, and sometimes function with a slight hangover but both on the same day when I have to go to work and be motivating is not ideal. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I know that you have probably discussed food tracking before. I’m very much the type-A, all or nothing, personality. I’m working on what impact that has on my diet. When I’m eating well, I’m 100% eating well and committed. When I’m eating poorly, I’m 100% committed to eating poorly. Full Article

Hi Hayley, So I've been reading a lot of articles lately about how terrible sitting is for you and since I spend 8-10 hours, 5 days a week doing just that, I am getting concerned about my health. I'm petite and skinny and I am generally happy with my body. This isn't the result of any particular exercise regimen, just a combination of genes and moderate eating. Full Article

Hayley, I am a 35 year old mother of 2 children with special needs. Over the years I have gained weight from sedentary nights at the hospital, poor menu options, and a lack of personal time and let's not forget emotional eating. I recognize that I need to change this lifestyle for myself and family. Full Article
